Ongoing case study
…Just like every other project, you conceive the idea then contact a service to bring it to life…
I was contacted by a mate from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAB), who had an idea for an agriculture-focused platform, a digital hub that would bring together agriculture news, farming information, agribusiness, opportunities and useful resources for people interested in the agricultural sector.
I was initially brought in to handle the website creation.
Started with Blogger
Because the project was working with a tight budget, we started with Blogger. At the time, the main goal was to get the platform online while keeping development and hosting costs low.
As the project progressed, my role expanded beyond website development.
The client also requested bulk content writing and regular agriculture updates, so I took on the role of lead writer, producing and overseeing content for the platform while continuing to work on its digital development.
At some point, I realised that what we were building was becoming more than a conventional blog or agriculture news website.
It was becoming a hub.
Then the Strategic Shift
After further discussions with the client, I recommended moving the project from Blogger to WordPress.
My thinking was simple: if the long-term plan was to build a platform around agriculture rather than just publish articles, the site needed a stronger foundation that could support more content types, categories, resources and future expansion.
WordPress seemed like the best option. It was practically the only option considering the platform direction and budget.
The client agreed, and we began working on the next phase, including the brand identity.
Building the Brand
The project was originally called Agriverse.
Before building the identity around the name, I carried out a quick name search with NameCHK and discovered that Agriverse was already established.
I didn’t want to build the platform around a name that could create confusion, so I suggested going in a different direction.
That became AgriAxis.
The idea behind the name was simple:
AgriAxis: the point where agriculture meets.
The name captured what I felt the platform could become. A place where farming, agribusiness, technology, information, opportunities and people could meet.
The client liked the direction, so I proceeded with the visual identity, including the logo and wordmark.
Rebuilding the Platform
I secured the AgriAxis.ng domain and recreated the platform on WordPress.
The website was redesigned around the broader hub concept rather than treating it simply as a blog.
The project was then relaunched under the AgriAxis name.
The AgriAxis NG ReBrand
There was another challenge.
After the domain had already been purchased, we discovered that another organisation had been established under the AgriAxis name about a month earlier.
By then, we had already been working on the project for over six months. This raised concerns about differentiation and possible confusion.
Rather than abandon the brand we had already developed, I suggested adding NG to make the Nigerian identity clearer and distinguish the platform from the other organisation.
Then we have:
AgriAxis -> AgriAxis NG
And with the domain:
AgriAxis.ng
the name became even more cohesive.
Involvement/Role:
- Website development & maintenance
- Platform strategy
- Brand naming
- Brand identity
- Logo & wordmark development
- Content strategy
- Editorial coordination
- Domain & digital presence
- Platform migration from Blogger to WordPress
- Ongoing digital management
Taking Over the Project
What started as a website-development gig gradually became a project I wanted to keep alive.
Eventually, the client’s priorities changed, particularly after we discovered that another organisation had emerged under AgriAxis name. This reduced the client’s active involvement in the project, and I didn’t want the work and vision already invested in AgriAxis to simply disappear.
After learning that the client intended to sell the site, I decided to acquire AgriAxis NG and continue developing the vision myself. I personally took on the subsequent domain and project costs, while assuming responsibility for the project’s digital presence and ongoing development under SDavidPrince Concepts.
As of August 2026, the project is being managed under SDavidPrince Concepts, giving it a more structured foundation for continued development.
